Manure can return over 70% of the nitrogen, phosphorus, and potash that was used from the soil to the animal without the use of chemical fertilizers. However, not all animal manure is created equal. Here is some of the composition of fresh animal manure:
Animal water % N P K dairy cows 79 11 2 9 fattening cattle 78 15 4 9 SHEEP 64 22 6 22 horse 59 14 2 13 swine 74 10 3 8 hens (no litter) 76 23 8 8 hens (dry litter) 25 45 23 20

Sheep manure is not very high in water content, meaning that it is neither wet nor messy. Its small round shape makes it easy to handle. Unlike cow or swine droppings, it hardly has any smell at all. Most shepherds keep a close eye on sheep poop to monitor the sheep's health status, and many do routine fecal exams to check for worms. Any seeds that may have been consumed by the sheep may be easily treated simply by composting the manure. l
